Christmas Message from
O-Sensei Phil Porter
Beloved USMA
Members and Dear Friends,
I was born in
1924, so this is my 86th Christmas, time to say thank you
to you all and to wish you a Merry Christmas! Let’s remember that
we are celebrating the birthday of our Lord and Savior Jesus the
Christ, who came to set us free. His message of love and kindness
is eternal. May it shine from every window of our great and blessed
country.
I especially
wish to send Christmas Greetings to our many USMA members who are
serving our country in the military services, in particular those
who are absent from their families and protecting our sacred
liberties overseas. May God bring them home safely, every one.
Every day I
get phone calls and emails from old and new friends. It’s very hard
to keep up with answering all of them. Therefore, I have asked our
Webmaster to send everyone this short letter via our website.
I had some
serious surgery last summer, and consequently got behind in my work
a little. All is well now and my beloved wife Joy and I are busy in
the office trying to catch up, and also splitting firewood nearly
every day. The weather here in California is rainy and cloudy,
that’s about all the winter we get. It very seldom snows here in
Sacramento.
Many old
friends will be interested to know that I am republishing both “Judo
From the Beginning,” and “Championship Judo Drill Training,” which I
wrote and published 35 years ago. These two books, out of print for
many years, are now selling on Amazon for $125 a copy second hand,
so it’s indeed time to republish. I’m bringing them up to date with
much new material, including lots of Mixed Martial Arts info, and I
know you’ll enjoy them. They’ll be out soon and we’ll keep you
posted.
Joy and I are
hoping that everyone who receives this letter is having a wonderful
Christmas Holiday, full of love, cheer, and happiness. I want you
to know that I pray every day for the strength to serve you
properly. Your constant friendship and love make life worthwhile
for me.
MERRY
CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Your servant
and friend always,
O-Sensei
Phil Porter
